Mouza / October 13, 2015  Kingsman: The Secret Service / Robin Hood: Origins / Taron

Taron Egerton’s 2016 has gotten clearer.

The rising star, who broke through with the Matthew Vaughn-directed comic book adaptation Kingsman: The Secret Service, had been caught between the dueling schedules of Liongate’sRobin Hood reboot and Kingsman 2.

The latter had been distributed by Fox but was produced and financed by Vaughn and his MARV Films banner. MARV, which had first dibs on the actor, had planted its flag for an April shoot while Lionsgate was aiming for a February start.

The situation didn’t look rosy last week, when Vaughn exercised his option on the actor, meaning thatKingsman 2 was going ahead no matter what, throwing Robin Hood: Origins temporarily into a loop. Would it wait for Egerton or recast?

But now that the dust has settled, THR has learned that Hood will shoot, with Egerton, after Kingsman wraps, likely at the end of summer 2016.

The moves have opened up Egerton’s winter slot but it may not lie vacant for long. Sources tell THR that the actor is attached to star in Crooks County, an indie crime drama package that is hitting the town. The project tells the true tale of a whistleblower involved in an undercover FBI operation in 1980s Cook County, Illinois, that resulted in the largest number of convictions of government officials in American history. Aron Gaudetand Gita Pullapilly wrote the script.

EXCLUSIVE: Lionsgate is looking to beat its rival Robin Hood projects to the punch by mining up-and-coming talent from across the pond for its Robin Hood: Origins. Rising Brit actor Taron Egerton is on the mini-major’s shortlist to head into Sherwood Forest, along with fellow Brit Jack Huston and Irish-American actor Jack Reynor. The Maze Runner‘s Dylan O’Brian is also believed to be under consideration. Scheduling is an issue for some of these hot young thesps. For example Egerton, who came to prominence with a career-making turn in Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsman: The Secret Service, could have availability issues if a sequel to Kingsman, which grossed over $400 million worldwide, gets its expected greenlight from Fox.

British actors Nicholas Hoult and Taron Egerton, both 25, are in the running to play Han Solo in the ‘Star Wars’ spin-off film.

It was announced earlier this week that the iconic sci-fi character would appear as the central figure in a new spin-off feature and the two British actors, both of whom are 25, are in the running for the coveted role in the Christopher Miller and Phil Lord-directed movie.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Everyone is very excited about the new Han Solo spin-off and film bosses are looking very carefully at Nicholas and Taron, they are top of their list.”

Meanwhile, the directing duo – who helmed ‘The Lego Movie’ in 2014 – recently promised to “take risks” with the eagerly-awaited spin-off film.

They said: “This is the first film we’ve worked on that seems like a good idea to begin with. We promise to take risks, to give the audience a fresh experience, and we pledge ourselves to be faithful stewards of these characters who mean so much to us.

“This is a dream come true for us. And not the kind of dream where you’re late for work and all your clothes are made of pudding, but the kind of dream where you get to make a film with some of the greatest characters ever, in a film franchise you’ve loved since before you can remember having dreams at all.”

Mouza / May 13, 2015  Interview / Taron

If there’s a man to watch in 2015, Welsh-born actor Taron Egerton is the one to keep your peepers on. He stormed into prominence with his portrayal of Gary ‘Eggsy’ Unwin in ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service’ earlier this year, alongside acting heavyweights Colin Firth and Michael Caine, and he’s not stopped working since. Named as one of GQ’s 50 best dressed British men in 2015, Egerton’s transformation from RADA graduate to well-groomed main man means he’s truly on the Grooming Guide radar.

With upcoming roles as Eddie ‘The Eagle’ alongside Hugh Jackman, and as the enigmatic sidekick Edward ‘Mad-Teddy’ Smith in ‘Legend’ (staring Tom Hardy as both the Kray twins) Egerton looks set to continue his stellar run, wowing audiences with his ability to transform into a diverse range of characters. But we here at Grooming Towers wanted to grab five minutes with the rising star to discuss what’s in his personal grooming arsenal – and find out if Michael Caine imparted any sleek advice to the newest kid on the block!

In the last few years you’ve gone from RADA graduate to well-known actor. Do you think you place more importance on grooming now that you’re in the public eye?
Probably less than I should! No, of course I’m much more aware of grooming now – not that I really get recognised much! I would say I have learnt a lot more about style over the last few years, what I like to wear and what suits me. Gone are the days of living 24/7 in grey joggers like I did at drama school. That’s not to say I don’t go back to the trusty jogging bottoms every so often, I just keep it to round the house or when I’m working out.

In ‘Kingsman’, your character goes through a ‘makeover’ – did you pick up any stealth grooming advice from on-set?
I was lucky enough to wear some beautiful bespoke suits as part of my character Eggsy’s transformation. I now have quite a taste for them, they change everything; the way you hold yourself, they give you a certain confidence, they act almost like a second skin. Also, before ‘Kingsman’ I never really understood the importance of a good watch – now my Bremont is practically welded to my wrist, I haven’t taken it off since I finished filming! It means I no longer have an excuse for being late though…!
